This policy explains, in plain English, how Balancr handles your information in the Balancr iPhone app and on balancr.fit. "Balancr", "we" and "us" mean the team behind the app.

The short version

• Your log is stored on your phone.
• Backups are files you export yourself. We don't keep a copy of your log.
• When you use an AI feature, the text or photo you send goes to our AI provider (OpenAI) to get an answer. API data is not used to train their models.
• We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.

What stays on your device

Meals, workouts, weight, photos, targets and settings you add in Balancr are stored on your iPhone. If you allow it, Balancr can read data such as steps, workouts or weight from Apple Health or a connected device; that data is also kept on your phone. You can export a backup file or delete everything from Settings at any time.

Backups

Balancr doesn't sync your log to our servers. To keep a backup, use Settings to download a backup file (or copy it as text). You choose where that file goes, and you can restore from it later. If you don't export a backup, your log exists only on your phone, so deleting the app deletes it.

AI features

Some features use AI: photo and text food or workout estimates, Ask Balancr, and summaries such as the weekly recap. When you use one, the text or photo you chose, plus a short summary of the relevant numbers from your log, is sent through our service to OpenAI to create the answer. We send only what that request needs. Under OpenAI's API terms, data sent through the API is not used to train their models. We don't keep the photo or text after the answer is returned. You can use Balancr without the AI features.

Subscription and payments

Balancr offers a paid subscription through Apple. Apple handles payment, and we never see your card details. We receive basic information from Apple to confirm your subscription is active.

Accounts

Today Balancr works without an account. We plan to add accounts for the paid version, using Sign in with Apple or email. If we do, we will store only what is needed to run your account (such as your email address or Apple's sign-in identifier), and we will update this policy before that launches.

This website and the waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we store your email address so we can tell you when the beta opens. We won't use it for anything else, and you can ask us to remove it at any time. This site has no ads and no advertising trackers.

Sharing

We don't sell or rent your data. We share data only with the service providers needed to run the features you use (such as our AI provider, hosting and Apple for payments), or when the law requires it. Doctor report PDFs are made on your phone, and you decide who gets them.

Health information

Balancr offers general wellness information. It is not medical advice and is not a medical device.

Children

Balancr is not meant for children under 13 (or the minimum age where you live), and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Your choices

You can export or delete your data in the app, export a backup file, turn AI features on or off, and remove Health access in iPhone Settings. To ask about your data, email us.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
